As a crime assault is a close equivalent to the civil law crime of amenazas, since both share the common elements of threat and raising fear in another. Amenazas, however, is considered a broader concept that includes as intended harm not only physical violence on a person, but also damage to property, attack on reputation, and coercion to force another to commit a crime.
